PARIS MENS FASHION WEEK

Spring Summer 24/25

Cross Mode was involved in three shows at this years Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Japanese brands Kidill and Masu, as well as famous designer Walter Van Beirendonck all showcased their SS24/25 collections.

KIDILL

KIDDIL’s designer Hiroaki Suesayu was inspired by American hip-hop group Ho99o9 and Japanese illustrator Kae Tanaka. He sensed a "Tokyo-ness" in Ho99o9's presence and mentality, and subjectively relates this to the essence of Harajuku street style, especially the 'lolita' style. As a result, the collection features many cute patterns and motifs combined with his existing punk style.

Walter Van Beirendonck

Walter still likes to speak out on social issues through his work. Through the comical image of the clown, he portrays the absurd and crazy reality of today's society. Behind the clown's exaggerated and funny performance is the tragedy and loneliness of the underclass people, as well as a kind of rebellion against the real world. Another eye-catching element this season is oversized polka dots in vibrant colours. Whether it's the large bright orange and Klein blue polka dot trim or the exaggerated leather polka dot trim.

MASU

MASU was inspired by Ivy League fashion and its development since arriving in Japan in the 1960s. Japan's "Godfather of Fashion", Kensuke Ishizu, travelled to the United States to photograph Ivy League college students in their outfits, which brought Ivy Style to Japan. Decades later, Japan's localized Ivy Style has even been exported back to the United States, and has evolved into a style of dress with a much wider reach. MASU perfectly captures this idea in their SS25 collection.
