SINO FRENCH FASHION AND CULTURE FESTIVAL 2023

From September 27th to October 8th, 2023, Cross Mode produced the Sino-French Fashion and Culture Festival at the China Cultural Centre in Paris. It united French fashion resources with Chinese innovation, showcasing beautiful and unique designs from 9 major fashion brands. The fashion week demonstrated the perfect fusion of style and creativity between the two countries, and the nearly two-week-long event was a huge success.

SHOWS

Laurence Xu

Chinese designer Laurence Xu draws from the traditional cultural elements of the GongWangFu ancient gardens, architectural murals, and the “First Fortune Under Heaven”. The exquisite Yunjin fabric is combined with techniques such as Miao and Su embroidery. By adopting Western three-dimensional tailoring, the impeccable traditional craftsmanship is showcased through the intricacy of stitching, allowing the world to see the refined “elegance of traditional Chinese life”.

D. Martina Queen

Fashion Designer for the opening and closing Ceremonies of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, D. Martina Queen presented herself in a virtual avatar to showcase the dynamism of traditional Chinese attire. Liberated from the constraints of physical laws, she returned to the essence of clothing. The imagery transformed into remarkable close-ups, movement, and light effects that were both visually striking and innovative.

Nunu&nono

Nunu&nono fashion designer Zhang En presented her Ocean themed SS24 collection. She finds creative inspiration in visual arts and three-dimensional structuralism. Incorporating techniques like printing, hand-beading, intangible cultural heritage Guang embroidery, hand-crocheted flowers, and French embroidery. By making use of contemporary design elements, she fuses traditional concepts, intangible cultural heritage, and fashion design to elucidate the cultural legacy of the fashion brand.

GongQing Cheng

Gongqing has become the birthplace of China’s first down jacket. “Our mission includes the creation of original clothing designs that combine the beauty of ancient attire with modern Chinese fashion elements, thereby pioneering a new style of clothing. Simultaneously, we employ principles of beauty to nurture and incubate a series of brand identities. Our flagship product is down clothing, which serves as a canvas to showcase Chinese culture and reflect positive values.”

ODI and China Post

China Post specially invited Mr. Song Dong, the founder and artist of the French brand ODI, to infuse a collection of products with a fashionable air. He meticulously crafted a range of fashion items that harmoniously blend historical sentiments with modern artistry. The products incorporate the vintage logo of People’s Post, merging tradition with artistic creation and seamlessly integrating classic elements with contemporary vitality, leaving a striking impression.

Theunissen

Parisian Avant-garde Fashion brand Theunissen aims to interpret the beauty of silhouettes in women’s fashion. Characterized by creating an “X” shaped silhouette, it endows the female body with a sense of power and grace, symbolizing the bold and free image of Parisian women. Theunissen’s garments are profoundly modern, with their unique designs benefiting from a clever mix of materials and the fusion of bright and pure colours.

Loolayy

With Dunhuang elements at its core, Loolayy is a fusion of “modern Chinese style” apparel and traditional Chinese festive and wedding costumes. The millennia old Chinese intangible heritage crafts such as flat embroidery, gold-wrapped thread embroidery, and seed embroidery are applied in clothing design and production.

La Koradior

La Koradior presented their “Chinese Intangible Heritage Embroidery Art Exhibition”: A Fusion of Poetic and Classical Elegance. It featured a series of Su embroidered haute couture dresses, crafted meticulously with silk threads. Moreover, it integrated Chinese intangible heritage Cantonese embroidery (Chao Embroidery) with French embroidery to blend Chinese and western aesthetics. On magnificent fabrics, vivid and colourful embroidered paintings blossom and rejuvenate, spreading Chinese and western aesthetics to the world.

Raxxy

Founded by William Shen, Raxxy’s 'New Dimension Fashion' was established with a vision of incorporating mathematical and logical thinking into fashion design, effectively breaking free from the constraints of the modern fashion system. Their mission is to integrate art into contemporary fashion expression, fostering a heightened aesthetic awareness through mathematical regularization.
